AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS) now uses generative AI to automate complex schema conversion tasks, particularly for migrations to PostgreSQL.
- Can automatically convert up to 90% of schema objects from commercial databases
- Uses large language models hosted on Amazon Bedrock to convert complex code snippets
- Helps reduce migration costs and accelerate project timelines
- Allows manual editing and verification of converted code
- Generative AI feature is opt-in and initially available in US East, US West, and Europe (Frankfurt) regions
