New Amazon CloudWatch and Amazon OpenSearch Service launch an integrated analytics experience

AWS News Blog

AWS has announced a new integrated analytics experience between Amazon CloudWatch and Amazon OpenSearch Service, offering simplified log data analysis and visualization without data duplication.

  • CloudWatch Logs now supports OpenSearch Piped Processing Language (PPL) and SQL queries
  • Users can access pre-built dashboards for VPC, CloudTrail, and AWS WAF logs
  • OpenSearch Service users can now analyze CloudWatch logs directly without ETL processes
  • The integration enables faster monitoring and troubleshooting through intuitive visualizations
  • Available in select AWS Regions with no additional setup required

This zero-ETL integration reduces operational complexity and provides more flexible log analysis capabilities across both services.
