AWS has announced the general availability of Amazon EKS Hybrid Nodes, a new feature that allows organizations to integrate their on-premises and edge infrastructure into Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) clusters.
- Enables unified Kubernetes management across cloud and on-premises environments
- Allows use of existing on-premises hardware while AWS manages Kubernetes control planes
- Supports multiple operating systems including Amazon Linux, Ubuntu, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- Integrates with AWS services like Systems Manager, IAM Roles Anywhere, and CloudWatch
- Compatible with Cilium and Calico Container Network Interface (CNI) drivers
The feature provides flexibility for organizations to extend their Kubernetes infrastructure seamlessly between cloud and on-premises environments, with no upfront commitments or minimum fees.
