Amazon CloudWatch Container Insights has launched enhanced observability for Amazon ECS, offering detailed metrics from cluster to container levels to improve troubleshooting and problem isolation.

  • Enables visual drilling across container layers to identify issues like memory leaks
  • Allows sorting clusters, services, tasks, and containers by resource consumption
  • Provides a new landing page to understand cluster health and performance across multiple accounts
  • Can be enabled through ECS console, AWS CLI, CloudFormation, and CDK
  • Supports collecting EC2 instance-level metrics via CloudWatch agent
  • Available in all public AWS Regions, including GovCloud and China regions

The enhancement aims to help customers proactively identify and mitigate performance issues before they impact end-user experience.
