AWS has announced Amazon FSx Intelligent-Tiering, a new storage class for FSx for OpenZFS that offers cost-effective and flexible storage management for large data sets.
- Introduces three storage tiers: Frequent Access, Infrequent Access, and Archive
- Priced 85% lower than existing SSD storage class
- Automatically moves data between tiers based on access patterns
- Provides high performance: up to 400K IOPS and 20 GB/second throughput
- Supports features like built-in backups, point-in-time snapshots, and data compression
The new storage class is ideal for workloads with changing storage requirements, such as genomics, financial analytics, and machine learning, offering cost savings and flexibility without performance compromise.
