Amazon Q Developer has announced a new feature for automatic unit test generation to help developers accelerate feature development and improve code quality.
- Users can generate unit tests by using the "/test" prompt
- The agent uses project-specific knowledge to create comprehensive tests
- Requires user consent before adding tests to prevent unintended changes
- Available in Visual Studio Code and JetBrains IDEs
- Also in public preview for GitLab Duo with Amazon Q
The feature aims to save development time, increase code coverage, and enable safer and more reliable code shipping by automating the unit testing process.
