Announcing Amazon Q Developer transformation capabilities for .NET (preview)

AWS has announced a new preview of Amazon Q Developer transformation capabilities for .NET, a generative AI-powered tool to help developers port .NET Framework applications to cross-platform .NET.

  • Automatically analyzes and transforms .NET Framework codebases to modern .NET versions
  • Supports porting applications from .NET Framework 3.5+ to .NET 8 and .NET 9
  • Works within Visual Studio as a new extension
  • Supports transforming console applications, class libraries, web APIs, and business logic layers
  • Upgrades NuGet packages, rewrites deprecated code, and assists with Linux porting

The tool enables developers to modernize .NET applications, reduce Microsoft licensing costs, and leverage cross-platform capabilities with AI-assisted transformation.
