AWS has announced the general availability of Data Lineage in Amazon DataZone and next generation of Amazon SageMaker, offering enhanced data tracking and visibility.

  • Automatically captures lineage from AWS Glue, Amazon Redshift, and Spark executions
  • OpenLineage compatible, allowing manual lineage event augmentation
  • Automates capture of schema and data transformation details
  • Enables data producers to assess impact of asset changes
  • Provides version tracking of lineage events for historical analysis
  • Helps with troubleshooting, auditing, and data integrity validation

The feature offers comprehensive data movement views and helps both data producers and consumers understand data asset origins and transformations.
