AWS News Blog
AWS has introduced a new preview feature for Amazon S3 that enables queryable object metadata across massive storage environments.
- Automatically generates rich metadata for S3 objects using Apache Iceberg tables
- Contains over 20 metadata elements including bucket name, object key, creation time, storage class, and tags
- Compatible with tools like Amazon Athena, Redshift, QuickSight, and Apache Spark
- Allows efficient metadata querying for analytics, data processing, and AI training workloads
- Currently available in preview in US East (Ohio, N. Virginia) and US West (Oregon) regions
This feature simplifies metadata management by providing an automated, scalable way to track and query object information across S3 buckets.
