New Amazon S3 Tables: Storage optimized for analytics workloads

AWS has introduced Amazon S3 Tables, a new storage solution optimized for analytics workloads using Apache Iceberg format. This new feature offers significant performance improvements for tabular data storage and querying.

  • Provides up to 3x faster query performance and 10x more transactions per second
  • Introduces a new "table bucket" type alongside existing S3 bucket types
  • Supports automatic table maintenance including compaction, snapshot management, and unreferenced file removal
  • Fully integrated with AWS analytics services like Athena, EMR, and Spark
  • Supports automatic encryption and Block Public Access

Currently available in US East (Ohio, N. Virginia) and US West (Oregon) regions, S3 Tables simplifies analytics data management with fully managed table storage and improved performance.
