AWS has released IoT Greengrass v2.14 with a new lightweight edge runtime software called "nucleus lite" designed for resource-constrained devices.
- Supports embedded Linux devices with less than 5MB of memory usage
- Eliminates Java (JVM) dependency while maintaining backward compatibility
- Provides flexibility for developers to choose runtime based on device capabilities
- Enables deployment of AWS-managed and custom applications on edge devices
- Suitable for applications in robotics, smart home, energy metering, healthcare, and automotive
