AWS has released IoT Greengrass v2.14 with a new lightweight edge runtime software called "nucleus lite" designed for resource-constrained devices.

  • Supports embedded Linux devices with less than 5MB of memory usage
  • Eliminates Java (JVM) dependency while maintaining backward compatibility
  • Provides flexibility for developers to choose runtime based on device capabilities
  • Enables deployment of AWS-managed and custom applications on edge devices
  • Suitable for applications in robotics, smart home, energy metering, healthcare, and automotive

The release aims to reduce IoT device costs and expand edge computing capabilities for resource-limited environments.
