Amazon Lightsail API endpoints now support connectivity over Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6)

News

Amazon Lightsail has expanded its API endpoint support to include IPv6 connectivity, offering a new dual-stack approach for network connections.

  • New dual-stack endpoints allow connections via IPv6 or IPv4
  • Addresses the growing issue of public IPv4 address exhaustion
  • Supports requests from Lightsail IPv6-only instances and IPv6 clients
  • Compatible with AWS CLI and AWS SDKs across all Lightsail regions
  • Follows Lightsail's earlier launch of IPv6-only instance plans

This update enables more flexible and future-proof network connectivity for Lightsail users, supporting the ongoing transition to IPv6.
