Announcing configurable point-in-time recovery periods for Amazon DynamoDB
Database Blog
AWS has announced a new feature for Amazon DynamoDB that allows configurable point-in-time recovery (PITR) periods for database tables.
- PITR now supports configurable backup periods from 1-35 days, instead of the previous fixed 35-day default
- Enables customers to meet specific data compliance and regulatory requirements
- Users can set recovery periods using AWS Management Console, CLI, CloudFormation, CDK, or SDK
- Pricing remains based on table size, regardless of chosen recovery period
- Reducing the recovery period will immediately limit restore points to the new timeframe
This update provides more flexibility for organizations managing their DynamoDB data retention and recovery strategies.
