Amazon EMR Serverless now supports Public Subnets, offering a more cost-effective solution for big data processing and outbound data transfer.
- Previously, VPC connectivity was limited to Private Subnets, requiring NAT Gateway configuration
- New support for Public Subnets eliminates additional NAT Gateway charges
- Enables direct route to internet gateway for outbound connectivity
- Supports VPC resource connections and internet access for big data workloads
- Available in all supported EMR releases and AWS Regions, including GovCloud
This update provides data engineers and scientists with a more efficient and cost-effective way to run serverless big data analytics frameworks.
