Amazon RDS Custom for SQL Server has expanded its storage and performance capabilities, offering significant improvements for database management:

  • Increased storage capacity from 16 TiB to 64 TiB
  • Enhanced I/O performance from 64,000 to 256,000 IOPS with io2 Block Express volumes
  • Supports larger workloads for transactional databases and data warehouses
  • Generally available in all supported AWS regions
  • Allows customization of underlying operating system
  • Supports bringing your own SQL Server licensed media or using Developer Edition

These enhancements provide improved scalability, performance, and flexibility for database management while maintaining the benefits of a managed database service.
