Amazon CloudWatch has introduced lock contention diagnostics for Aurora PostgreSQL, a new feature in CloudWatch Database Insights Advanced mode that helps identify and analyze database locking issues.
- Provides visualization of blocking and waiting database sessions
- Helps identify dominating sessions, queries, and objects causing lock contention
- Stores historical locking data for 15 months
- Eliminates need for manual query analysis or log review
- Can be enabled through Aurora service console, AWS APIs, or SDK
The feature simplifies database troubleshooting by offering comprehensive lock contention insights and is available in all public AWS Regions with vCPU-based pricing.
