Streamline Development with New Amazon Q Developer Agents

DevOps & Developer Productivity Blog

AWS introduced new AI agents for Amazon Q Developer to streamline software development across the software development lifecycle (SDLC):

  • /doc Agent: Automatically generates and updates project documentation, making README creation easier and faster
  • /test Agent: Automates unit test generation for Java and Python projects, helping developers catch bugs early
  • /review Agent: Performs comprehensive code analysis, including security vulnerability detection and code quality assessment

These AI-powered agents aim to enhance developer productivity by automating time-consuming tasks like documentation, testing, and code review while maintaining high code quality and security standards. They are designed to complement, not replace, human developer expertise.

The agents are available in Visual Studio Code and select JetBrains IDEs, with support for Python and Java projects, and are part of Amazon Q Developer's free tier.
