Announcing fine-grained access control via AWS Lake Formation with EMR on EKS

AWS has announced general availability of fine-grained data access control (FGAC) via AWS Lake Formation for Apache Spark with Amazon EMR on EKS.
- Enables enforcement of FGAC policies at database, table, column, row, and cell levels
- Supports Hudi, Delta Lake, and Iceberg table formats
- Allows creation of AWS Glue Data Catalog views queryable across multiple engines
- Administrators can control data access using SQL dialect and Lake Formation permissions
- Available with EMR 7.7 release in all EMR on EKS regions
This release simplifies data lake security and governance by providing comprehensive access control mechanisms for Spark jobs.
