Announcing the end of support for Node.js 14.x and 16.x in AWS CDK

DevOps & Developer Productivity Blog

AWS is ending support for Node.js 14.x and 16.x in the AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) effective May 30th, 2025.

  • Node.js 14.x and 16.x have reached end of life
  • AWS recommends upgrading to Node.js LTS versions (18.x, 20.x, or 22.x)
  • After May 30th, AWS will not address issues specific to unsupported Node.js versions
  • New CDK features may require newer Node.js versions
  • Critical security patches will not be backported to older versions

Users are advised to check their current Node.js version, update their environments, and validate their AWS CDK projects on supported Node.js versions before the deprecation date.
