Amazon ECR announces ECR to ECR pull through cache

News

Amazon ECR has introduced ECR to ECR Pull Through Cache, a new feature that enables automatic synchronization of container images between two ECR private registries across different AWS regions and accounts.

  • Allows automatic syncing of container images between ECR registries
  • Reduces latency by caching images in-region
  • Only caches images that are actually pulled, optimizing storage costs
  • Automatically fetches and caches images from upstream registries
  • Supports frequent syncs to keep cached images up to date

The feature is available in most AWS regions, helping customers efficiently manage container images across multiple regions and accounts with reduced complexity and improved performance.
