Amazon RDS for SQL Server now supports linked servers to Teradata databases, enabling new cross-database connectivity options for customers.
- Allows reading data and executing commands on remote Teradata databases
- Can connect to Teradata databases running on AWS or on-premises
- Configured by adding the ODBC_TERADATA option to the RDS for SQL Server instance's Option Group
- Amazon RDS automatically installs and configures the Teradata ODBC driver
- Supports distributed transactions via Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC)
- Uses TLS encryption for secure connections
This feature enhances data integration capabilities for SQL Server users by providing a seamless way to connect and query Teradata databases.
