Amazon RDS has expanded Cross-Region Automated Backups to five new AWS Regions, enhancing disaster recovery capabilities for database users.
- New supported region pairs include Australia, Asia Pacific, Canada, and Europe
- Enables replication of snapshots and transaction logs between regions
- Allows quick database restoration in case of primary region failure
- Achieves Recovery Point Objective (RPO) within minutes
- Supports PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server databases
Users can set up Cross-Region Automated Backup replication through RDS Management Console, AWS SDK, or CLI, providing a robust disaster recovery solution.
