Amazon RDS for Oracle now supports credential management with AWS Secrets Manager for databases using Oracle multitenant architecture.

  • Enables credential management for pluggable databases (PDBs) within a container database (CDB)
  • Allows automated password rotations
  • Supports IAM access control for authorized users
  • Encrypts credentials using AWS Key Management Service (KMS)
  • Replaces plaintext passwords in application code with programmatic credential retrieval
  • Automatically uses managed credentials for database restore and recovery operations

This enhancement improves security and management of Oracle database credentials across multi-tenant database architectures.
