Amazon RDS for Oracle now supports credential management with AWS Secrets Manager for databases using Oracle multitenant architecture.
- Enables credential management for pluggable databases (PDBs) within a container database (CDB)
- Allows automated password rotations
- Supports IAM access control for authorized users
- Encrypts credentials using AWS Key Management Service (KMS)
- Replaces plaintext passwords in application code with programmatic credential retrieval
- Automatically uses managed credentials for database restore and recovery operations
This enhancement improves security and management of Oracle database credentials across multi-tenant database architectures.
