AWS achieves U.S. Department of Defense’s CMMC Level 2 certification for Controlled Working Environment

AWS has achieved the U.S. Department of Defense's Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2 certification for its Controlled Working Environment (CWE), demonstrating enhanced cybersecurity capabilities for DoD contract support.

  • CMMC Level 2 focuses on protecting Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)
  • Certification involves 110 security requirements from NIST SP 800-171
  • Coalfire conducted the assessment, awarding AWS a perfect 110 score
  • CWE supports DoD and federal government operations
  • Assessment completed ahead of schedule with no findings

AWS plans to continue improving its security controls and work towards achieving CMMC Level 3 certification in the future.
