AWS Professional Services collaborates with NOAA and GAMA-1 Technologies to expand NESDIS Common Cloud Framework capabilities

Public Sector Blog

AWS Professional Services, NOAA, and GAMA-1 Technologies have collaborated to expand the NESDIS Common Cloud Framework (NCCF), a cloud-based infrastructure for managing environmental data.

  • NCCF provides a secure, scalable solution for ingesting, processing, and disseminating environmental data
  • Utilizes AWS serverless tools like Amazon S3, EventBridge, Step Functions, and Lambda
  • Includes five key services: Secure Ingest, Open Information Stewardship, Product Generation, Dissemination, and Science Sandbox
  • Supports FAIR data principles and enables dynamic data integration
  • Successfully onboarded data from the GOES-19 satellite launched in June 2024

The framework aims to enhance NOAA's environmental intelligence capabilities, reduce operational costs, and improve data-driven decision-making.
