DevOps & Developer Productivity Blog
Amazon Q Developer has expanded its intelligent coding assistant capabilities to Visual Studio and JetBrains IDEs, introducing an agentic coding experience that proactively helps developers streamline their workflow.
- Automatically analyzes workspace and generates code fixes
- Can create unit tests and resolve build errors autonomously
- Supports multiple languages including English, Mandarin, Japanese, and Spanish
- Allows developers to define custom rules and context through .amazonq/rules/ directory
- Enables developers to explicitly guide the AI using @workspace and @files features
The new agentic experience goes beyond traditional chat-based interactions, offering intelligent, action-oriented assistance that can read files, generate code diffs, run commands, and validate changes within the developer's IDE.
