AWS KMS adds support for post-quantum ML-DSA digital signatures
News
AWS Key Management Service (KMS) has added support for post-quantum ML-DSA digital signatures, a quantum-resistant signature algorithm designed to protect sensitive information against future quantum computing threats.
- Supports FIPS 203 Module-Lattice Digital Signature Standard (ML-DSA)
- Provides three new key specs: ML_DSA_44, ML_DSA_65, and ML_DSA_87
- Compatible with existing KMS CreateKey and Sign APIs
- Particularly useful for firmware and application code signing
- Currently available in US West (N. California) and Europe (Milan) regions
This feature enables organizations to maintain cryptographic security in the face of potential quantum computing advancements, preserving signature validity for extended periods.
