Amazon Route 53 launches capacity utilization metric for Resolver endpoints

News

Amazon Route 53 has launched a new CloudWatch metric (ResolverEndpointCapacityStatus) to help users monitor query capacity for Resolver endpoints in VPCs.

  • Provides direct visibility into Resolver endpoint capacity utilization
  • Reports endpoint status in three levels:
    • 0 - OK (normal capacity)
    • 1 - Warning (over 50% capacity)
    • 2 - Critical (over 75% capacity)
  • Allows proactive monitoring and scaling of DNS query capacity
  • Eliminates need for manual capacity calculations
  • No additional charge for the metric

The new metric simplifies capacity management for Route 53 Resolver endpoints by providing clear, actionable signals for scaling decisions.
