Amazon Route 53 Resolver endpoints now support additional capabilities for IPv6 query traffic

This article announces new IPv6 capabilities for Amazon Route 53 Resolver endpoints to support hybrid DNS management across IPv4 and IPv6 networks.

  • DNS64 on inbound endpoints synthesizes AAAA responses for IPv4-only domains
  • IPv6-only clients on-premises can reach IPv4 AWS services without modifications
  • Outbound endpoints forward DNS queries to public IPv6 name servers via IGW
  • Simplifies hybrid cloud DNS between on-premises and Amazon VPC
  • Available at no additional cost in all supported AWS Regions

These new capabilities enable seamless IPv6 and IPv4 communication across hybrid environments without workarounds.
