Boost application performance: Amazon CloudFront enables HTTPS record

Networking & Content Delivery Blog

Amazon CloudFront now supports HTTPS DNS alias records through Amazon Route 53, enabling faster and more secure web connections by improving protocol discovery during DNS resolution.

  • HTTPS records provide detailed information about available network protocols during initial DNS lookup
  • Reduces connection establishment round trips by eliminating separate TLS negotiation
  • Supports major browsers like Chrome, Safari, and Firefox
  • Enables direct HTTP/3 and QUIC connections with minimal latency
  • Provides cost optimization by waiving DNS query charges for alias records

This feature allows clients to establish optimal, secure connections more efficiently, improving web application performance and reducing operational expenses.
