AWS HealthImaging has launched support for DICOM BulkData, enhancing metadata retrieval for medical imaging workflows.
- Large DICOM data elements over 1 MB will be automatically replaced with BulkDataURIs
- Ensures consistent, low-latency metadata retrievals
- Reduces metadata payload size to improve processing speed
- Follows DICOMweb standard for metadata handling
- Provides flexible API for downloading large data elements
The service is now generally available in US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Sydney), and Europe (Ireland) regions. It remains a HIPAA-eligible service for healthcare and life sciences organizations.
