AWS HealthImaging now supports DICOM video data and JPEG 2000 transcoding

News

AWS HealthImaging has introduced two significant enhancements to its medical imaging cloud service:

  • Added support for DICOM video data storage, including formats like MPEG2, MPEG-4, and HEVC/H.265
  • Enabled retrieval of images in JPEG 2000 lossless format
  • Allows retrieving video and image data as DICOM instances or direct video/image objects
  • Maintains HIPAA-eligibility for healthcare providers and software partners
  • Currently available in four regions: US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Sydney), and Europe (Ireland)

These updates expand HealthImaging's capabilities for storing, analyzing, and sharing medical images at petabyte scale, improving interoperability and reducing total cost of ownership.
