AWS has announced two new enhancements for AWS Lambda to simplify serverless development:
- Console to IDE integration with Visual Studio Code
- Remote debugging capabilities for Lambda functions
Key features include:
- One-click transfer of Lambda function code to VS Code
- Automatic AWS Toolkit installation if needed
- Remote debugging for Python, Node.js, and Java runtimes
- Ability to debug functions running in cloud environment with full AWS service access
- No additional cost beyond standard Lambda execution
These improvements aim to streamline serverless development by reducing tool switching and making cloud function debugging more efficient.
