Amazon ElastiCache now supports Valkey 8.1, introducing several key improvements for in-memory data storage and performance:
- Native support for Bloom filters, reducing memory usage by up to 98% compared to Set data type
- New hash table implementation improving throughput by 10% with pipelining
- Reduced memory overhead by up to 20% for common key/value patterns
- New COMMANDLOG feature to record large requests and replies
- Available in all AWS Regions at no additional cost
- Upgrade possible with just a few clicks and no downtime
The release aims to help developers increase application responsiveness and reduce infrastructure costs for in-memory workloads.
