Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP now supports decreasing SSD storage capacity, offering more flexibility for workloads with varying high-performance storage needs.
- Previously, decreasing SSD capacity required migrating file systems and caused application downtime
- Users can now decrease SSD capacity in-place with just a few clicks in the Amazon FSx console
- Enables more efficient management of project-based workloads with changing storage requirements
- Supports workloads like Electronic Design Automation and Media & Entertainment
- Allows provisioning extra SSD capacity for temporary data migrations and then scaling down
- Available on second-generation FSx for ONTAP file systems across AWS Regions
This update provides customers with greater flexibility to optimize storage resources and reduce costs by dynamically adjusting SSD capacity.
