Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP now supports decreasing your SSD storage capacity

News

Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP has introduced a new feature allowing users to decrease their file system's SSD storage capacity dynamically.

  • Enables more efficient management of project-based workloads with varying storage needs
  • Allows provisioning of SSD capacity upfront for peak usage, then scaling down to reduce costs
  • Supports workloads like Electronic Design Automation and media processing
  • Can temporarily increase SSD capacity for faster data migrations, then right-size afterward
  • Available on second-generation FSx for ONTAP file systems across all supported AWS Regions

This feature provides more flexibility in storage management, allowing users to optimize performance and cost for dynamic workloads.
