Amazon OpenSearch Serverless now supports kNN Byte vector and new data types

Amazon OpenSearch Serverless has introduced several new features to enhance search and analytics capabilities:

  • kNN Byte vector support, reducing memory and storage requirements
  • Radial search capabilities for Vector collections
  • New data types including:
    • Wildcard field type
    • Strict allow templates
    • Kuromoji completion analyzer
  • Nested fields for storing multiple vectors in a single document

These enhancements improve performance, reduce costs, and provide greater flexibility in managing search operations without complex infrastructure management.
