AWS IAM Identity Center introduces support for user background sessions with Amazon SageMaker Studio
News
AWS IAM Identity Center has introduced a new feature called user background sessions for Amazon SageMaker Studio, enabling long-running jobs to continue even after a user logs off.
- Allows SageMaker Studio jobs to run up to 90 days without user being signed in
- Leverages user identity permissions and corporate directory group associations
- Supports data access across multiple AWS services like Athena, EMR, Lake Formation, Redshift, and S3
- Built on trusted identity propagation (TIP) capability
- Administrators can track, update, and terminate background sessions via CloudTrail
This feature enhances workflow flexibility by allowing long-running computational tasks to continue independently of user session status.
