Amazon EC2 announces AMI Usage to better monitor the use of AMIs
News
Amazon EC2 has introduced AMI Usage, a new feature to help users track and monitor Amazon Machine Image (AMI) consumption across AWS accounts and resources.
- Enables tracking AMI usage across accounts and resources without custom scripts
- Generates reports listing accounts using specific AMIs in EC2 instances and launch templates
- Provides visibility into AMI utilization across instances, launch templates, Image Builder recipes, and SSM parameters
- Helps manage AMI lifecycle and optimize costs
- Available at no additional cost in all AWS regions, including China and GovCloud regions
The feature eliminates the previous operational overhead of manually tracking AMI usage, offering improved infrastructure management and resource tracking.
