AWS Organizations launches account state information for granular account lifecycle management

AWS Organizations has introduced a new "Account State" field to provide more granular tracking of account lifecycle management. This enhancement offers more detailed insights into account status beyond the previous limited options.

  • New State field includes five values: PENDING_ACTIVATION, ACTIVE, SUSPENDED, PENDING_CLOSURE, and CLOSED
  • Provides more precise tracking of account readiness and operational status
  • Between September 2025-2026, both State and Status fields will be available
  • Status field will be completely removed after September 2026
  • Helps organizations make more informed decisions about resource allocation and access control

This update enables customers to more effectively manage their AWS account lifecycles with improved visibility and granular state tracking.
