News

Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling has introduced a new feature for forced cancellation of instance refreshes, providing enhanced control over Auto Scaling group (ASG) updates.

  • Customers can now immediately cancel instance refreshes without waiting for in-progress launches or terminations
  • Enables rapid response during emergency situations or service disruptions
  • Users can quickly abort ongoing deployments and start new instance refreshes
  • Implemented by setting WaitForTransitioningInstances to false when using CancelInstanceRefresh API
  • Available in all AWS regions, including AWS GovCloud (US) Regions

This enhancement gives users more flexibility and speed in managing Auto Scaling group updates and application deployments.
