IBM and AWS have announced license add-ons for Db2 on AWS Marketplace, expanding licensing options for customers migrating to cloud databases.
- Two new add-ons introduced for Db2 Enterprise and Advanced Enterprise Server Editions
- Enables customers with Processor Value Unit (PVU) licenses to deploy on Amazon RDS
- Helps customers transition from on-premises to cloud-based database models
- Provides flexibility in licensing: can be purchased via AWS Marketplace or IBM account team
- Supports migration to Virtual Processor Core (VPC) licensing model compatible with EC2
The add-ons offer customers improved performance, broader recovery options, and the ability to leverage AWS's managed database services while maintaining existing licensing investments.
