Introducing URL and host header rewrite with AWS Application Load Balancers
Networking & Content Delivery Blog
AWS has announced the general availability of URL and host header rewriting capabilities for Application Load Balancers (ALBs), providing enhanced routing and traffic management features.
- Enables native regex matching on request parameters
- Allows rewriting of URLs and host headers without custom application logic
- Supports path transformations and complex routing scenarios
- Eliminates need for third-party proxy solutions
- Particularly beneficial for Kubernetes and multi-language application migrations
Key benefits include simplified infrastructure, reduced maintenance overhead, lower costs, and decreased latency by consolidating routing functions directly into the ALB service.
