Amazon EC2 now supports CPU options optimization for license-included instances

Amazon EC2 has introduced CPU options optimization for license-included instances, allowing customers to modify vCPU configurations and reduce licensing costs for Microsoft Windows Server and SQL Server workloads.
- Customers can customize the number of vCPUs and disable hyperthreading
- Particularly beneficial for database workloads requiring high memory and IOPS
- Can reduce vCPU-based licensing costs while maintaining performance
- Example: On an r7i.8xlarge instance, turning off hyperthreading can reduce vCPUs from 32 to 16, saving 50% on licensing
- Available in all commercial AWS Regions and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions
This feature enables more flexible and cost-effective CPU configuration for license-included instances, optimizing performance and licensing expenses.
