Amazon Managed Service for Prometheus adds anomaly detection

Amazon Managed Service for Prometheus has added a new anomaly detection feature that uses machine learning to analyze time series metrics and identify unexpected changes.

  • Uses Random Cut Forest (RCF) unsupervised algorithm for detecting anomalies
  • Creates four new time series representing anomalies and confidence values
  • Enables dynamic alerting rules in Prometheus Alert manager
  • Allows visualization of anomalies in Grafana dashboards
  • Available in all AWS regions where Prometheus service is supported

Users can configure anomaly detection through AWS CLI, SDK, or APIs, providing a streamlined approach to identifying unusual metric behaviors with minimal manual intervention.
