Split Cost Allocation Data for Amazon EKS supports Kubernetes labels

AWS has introduced an enhancement to Split Cost Allocation Data for Amazon EKS that allows importing Kubernetes labels for more detailed cost tracking.

  • Users can now import up to 50 Kubernetes custom labels per pod as cost allocation tags
  • Enables cost attribution at the pod level using attributes like cost center, application, and business unit
  • Provides granular cost visibility for EKS clusters running multiple containers on shared EC2 instances
  • New customers can enable the feature in the AWS Billing and Cost Management console
  • Existing customers will have labels automatically imported, requiring activation as cost allocation tags
  • Labels become available in Cost and Usage Report (CUR) within 24 hours
  • Can be visualized using Containers Cost Allocation dashboard in Amazon QuickSight

The feature is available in all AWS Regions where Split Cost Allocation Data for Amazon EKS is supported.
