Amazon CloudWatch agent now supports collecting shared memory utilization metrics for Linux hosts on EC2 and on-premises environments, providing enhanced memory monitoring capabilities.

  • New feature enables tracking of shared memory usage in CloudWatch
  • Particularly useful for enterprise applications like SAP HANA and Oracle RDBMS
  • Helps optimize host and application configurations
  • Supports making informed decisions about instance sizing
  • Available in all commercial AWS Regions and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions

The update allows users to more accurately assess total memory utilization by capturing shared memory segments not previously included in standard memory metrics.
