AWS Private CA now supports post-quantum digital certificates

News

AWS Private Certificate Authority (AWS Private CA) has added support for Module Lattice-based Digital Signature Algorithm (ML-DSA), a post-quantum cryptographic standard for digital certificates.

  • Enables creation of certificate authorities and issuance of certificates using ML-DSA
  • Helps protect against future quantum computing threats
  • Supports certificate issuance, identity verification, and code signing
  • Prepares for phasing out current digital signature algorithms like RSA and ECDSA
  • Available in all commercial AWS Regions, AWS GovCloud, and China Regions

This feature allows organizations to begin transitioning their public key infrastructure towards quantum-resistant cryptography, addressing potential future security vulnerabilities.
