Amazon CloudWatch Logs now supports Network Load Balancer access logs

News

This article announces that Amazon CloudWatch Logs now supports Network Load Balancer (NLB) access logs as vended logs, enhancing network traffic observability and troubleshooting capabilities.

  • NLB access logs can be analyzed directly in CloudWatch Logs for insights into client connections and traffic distribution
  • Use CloudWatch Logs Insights queries to track detailed access patterns and identify network issues
  • Create metric filters for monitoring and set up real-time alerting based on log patterns
  • Enable NLB access logs via AWS Management Console, AWS CLI, or SDKs
  • Logs can be delivered to CloudWatch Logs, Amazon Data Firehose, or Amazon S3 with Parquet format support
  • Feature available in all AWS Regions where NLB and CloudWatch Logs are supported
  • Vended logs charged; S3 delivery free; Parquet conversion costs $0.035 per GB

This integration simplifies NLB monitoring by enabling centralized log analysis and real-time alerting within CloudWatch Logs.
