AWS HealthImaging adds native JPEG 2000 Lossless support

This article announces that AWS HealthImaging now supports JPEG 2000 Lossless as a transfer syntax for storing and retrieving medical images.

  • JPEG 2000 Lossless added as transfer syntax option for DICOM data
  • Customers can choose between JPEG 2000 Lossless and High-throughput JPEG 2000 (HTJ2K)
  • Simplifies integration with legacy applications requiring JPEG 2000 encoded data
  • Eliminates transcoding latency during image retrieval
  • Available in US East, US West, Asia Pacific, and Europe regions

This update enables easier integration of HealthImaging with legacy systems while maintaining low-latency cloud-based image retrieval.
